Finding an amazing apprenticeship opportunity is the start of an exciting journey, but it can be a bit daunting if you’re not sure how things work. In this blog, we’ll take you through our recruitment process step-by-step and show you everything you can expect from Baltic – from submitting your CV to accepting a job offer!
So, you’ve applied for an apprenticeship with Baltic – what happens next?
Step One: We’ll confirm your application
Congratulations on taking the first step towards a career in tech! Our apprenticeship programmes are a fantastic route into one of the UK’s most in-demand sectors. Once you have filled out the application form and uploaded your latest CV, you’ll get an email confirming that we have your application and that our team will be in touch.
Step Two: Chat with Your Recruiter
With Baltic Apprenticeships, you’ll be paired up with one of our specialist recruitment consultants who will support you every step of the way.
Your recruiter will call you to find out a little more about you, learn about your skills and interests and hear why you want to start a career in tech. This process helps us identify whether the role you have applied for aligns with your skills and passions. It’s also a great opportunity for you to ask questions and find out a little more about the company so you can see if the vacancy is right for you.
This call usually lasts around 30 minutes. If you’re busy when we reach out, we can always re-arrange this call for a time that suits you. We will also ask you to confirm a few extra details, such as your travel arrangements and eligibility for the course.
If you are happy to go ahead after the call, the next steps can commence! In the meantime, you’ll be asked to research the role and company further – after all, understanding your potential employer will make you stand out in an interview!
Step Three: Interview Time!
Now that we have identified whether you would be great for the role, we’ll share your skills with your potential employer. If they decide they would like to meet you, we’ll organise an interview! Interviews can be nerve-wracking but your recruiter will be there to support you and help you prepare. Before the interview, they will call you to conduct an interview preparation session, where they’ll share expert advice and help calm any nerves before the big day.
Step Four: Discuss Your Feedback
Now that your interview is done and dusted – it’s time to get your feedback! Waiting to hear the verdict is daunting, so we book in a call with the employer to hear their feedback as soon as possible. Whether the news is good or bad, we always make sure to give you helpful feedback so that you know your strengths and any areas we can help you improve.
Step Five: Work Trial
If you have impressed at interview, you may be asked to complete a 1-2 day work trial. This is less formal than the interview process and gives you the opportunity to see if you enjoy the work environment before accepting the position. You’ll learn more about the business, meet the team and spend time job shadowing, helping you decide whether this is the right role for you.
Step Six: Have You Got the Job?
Now that you have attended an interview and work trial, it’s time to hear if you have the job. If the outcome isn’t what you hoped for, we will work with you to improve your digital skills and provide further interview tips. With your consent, we’ll also put you forward to other companies in your area who are offering similar apprenticeship opportunities.
If you’re successful, your recruiter will be the first to congratulate you! They will also discuss start dates and next steps, including your apprenticeship induction – after much celebration of course.
And that’s it – you’re now a Baltic apprentice at the beginning of your apprenticeship journey and digital career!
