Are you ready to turn your love for IT into a solid career? We are recruiting on behalf of our client who are on the lookout for a curious minded individual to join their IT team as an IT Apprentice! Their core purpose is to secure the highest standards and outcomes, raise aspirations and achievements by securing continuous, first class education and provision for all!

As an apprentice at Wigston Academy, you'll be diving into hands-on projects, gaining practical skills, and setting the stage for a fulfilling IT career. As an apprentice you will support staff and pupils with IT queries in person and by phone and email, supporting with classroom equipment and hardware around the school such as printers, laptops, computers and projectors and much more! You will be fully immersed in the world of IT and given all the tools and support to build a long and successful career in the IT industry!

 

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician Qualification delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Supporting staff and pupils with IT queries in person, by phone and email
  • Supporting with classroom equipment and hardware around the school such as printers, laptops, computers and projectors
  • Assist with password resets, and issue new login details
  • Ensure network performance is monitored and report any anomalies or issues to the IT team leader
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as ensuring school leavers are removed from systems and uploading new starters
  • Maintain the PAT Testing register across the campus and test all necessary IT equipment

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £16,546 per annum
  • Monday to Friday either 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm, this will rotate
  • 24 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays!
  • Holidays increase by 5 days after 5 year period

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • An eagerness to learn and grow
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • An understanding of networking and switches would be beneficial
  • A flexible approach to work
  • Grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and Grade 5/C in GCSE English

Your Training with Baltic:

This apprenticeship provides the skills, qualification and experience you need to immerse yourself within an exciting, fast-moving industry and become an effective IT Technician.

Beyond the fundamental apprenticeship modules, you'll delve into two Be-Spoke modules and one advanced Expert module. This personalised approach will hone your abilities and deepen your expertise, positioning you as a true leader in your field. The Be-Spoke and Expert modules you will complete are:

  • AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals – Suited to technology professionals who are looking to demonstrate foundational knowledge of cloud concepts in general and Microsoft Azure in particular. This certification is a common starting point in a journey towards a career in Azure, ideally the learner will already have exposure to infrastructure and/or database management. 
  • Problem Solving & Innovation – This course covers problem-solving techniques, defining issues, implementing solutions, and creating an innovative culture.
  • Customer Service Fundamentals  – This course covers customer service essentials: understanding customers, product knowledge, conflict resolution, interpersonal skills, and self-improvement.
