IT Support Apprentice – Wedge Group Galvanizing

 

Are you looking to kick-start your career in IT with hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment? Wedge Group Galvanizing is offering an exciting IT Support Apprenticeship where you will gain valuable skills in IT support, system administration, and network management.

 

Wedge Group Galvanizing Ltd is the UK’s largest hot-dip galvanizing organisation, with 14 sites nationwide. For over 150 years, they have provided essential corrosion protection for steel structures, from street furniture to major infrastructure projects like bridges and stadiums. A Typical Day in the Job:

·       Providing first-line IT support to internal and external users via phone, email, messaging, and video calls.

·       Troubleshooting hardware and software issues using IT service management tools like Halo ITSM.

·       Assisting with password resets, user account management, and software installations.

·       Installing, configuring, and upgrading hardware components (RAM, CPU, GPU, PSU) and peripheral devices (printers, Bluetooth devices, etc.).

·       Supporting networked devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and UPS systems.

·       Maintaining wired and wireless network configurations.

·       Assisting with IT security tasks, including multi-factor authentication and antivirus configurations.

·       Documenting IT tasks, escalations, and resolutions using IT service management platforms.

 

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

 

Desired Qualities, Skills, and Knowledge:

·       A strong interest in IT and a willingness to learn.

·       Good problem-solving skills and logical thinking.

·       Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.

·       Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.

·       A proactive approach to learning and development.

·       Basic knowledge of IT hardware and software.

·       Interest in cybersecurity, networking, and automation (e.g., PowerShell).

·       A Grade 5/C in GCSE English and a Grade 4/C in GCSE Maths is required for this role.

 

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

·       £15,000 per annum.

·       Full-time, Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week with 7.5 hour working periods between 7am and 6pm

·       Annual pay reviews with opportunities for salary progression.

·       25 days holiday (plus statutory days)

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships

This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT. You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting software, optimising performance, and setting up virtual environments.

With real-time classes, self-paced learning, and expert trainer support, this programme will give you the confidence and qualifications to thrive in IT.
