As an IT Apprentice at Summit Learning Trust, you will play a vital role in learning, managing, and maintaining ICT equipment and applications across their Academies. You will assist in resolving support requests via their Helpdesk system, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and continuous service delivery. This apprenticeship offers a structured training program, providing hands-on experience to develop your technical expertise. You'll work alongside experienced IT professionals, gaining valuable skills in troubleshooting, hardware and software management, and cloud-based solutions. Your role will also include supporting ICT curriculum activities for staff and students, and developing knowledge in cloud technologies and mobile device management solutions such as Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager and Google Admin Centre.

In this role, you’ll work towards your IT Support Level 3 qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Support hardware and software deployment by assisting in structured rollouts, installations, configurations, and updates under supervision.
  • Set up and maintain IT equipment, including PCs, laptops, mobile devices, interactive whiteboards, sound systems, and other specialist technology for classrooms and work areas.
  • Assist in IT security and connectivity, including deploying safeguarding software, troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues, and learning basic server maintenance with senior technician guidance.
  • Assist in creating and managing user accounts.
  • Help implement and monitor network policies for staff and students.
  • Support device management using cloud platforms such as Microsoft Intune and Google Admin Centre.
  • Detect, diagnose, and resolve basic IT issues related to computers, printers, and peripherals.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of ICT hardware, software, and licenses.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £21,772.41 per annum
  • Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (36.5 hours per week).

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Resilient and able to work under pressure.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car is essential.
  • Grade 4/C in Maths and a Grade 5/C in English at GCSE is required for this role.
